FOGBOUND

When you tramp

Under the full moon,

When you walk

Under the negative light,

When you move through cities

In the full moon in the fog,

I will hear you.

*

Against sleep,

Against it all,

Heart full,

Full of healthy blood.

*

DAWN

In the night minutes

Before daylight,

In your warmth

I make pure love

To you

*

We are tenderness

In a union

Of viscera and soul.

*

Lovers in the fleeing dawn.

CONFECTION FOR A SPRING MORNING

Aside:

As I write this profundity

I am struck

By the beauty of the women

Crossing the Danforth

In the Sunday snow flurries.

*

Love is transcendent.
